Strawberries

The strawberry is one of the most popular types of fruit there is. From a botanical point of view, the strawberry is a false fruit: the small seeds on the outside are the real fruits. Strawberries are also referred to as "summer kings", but are available throughout the year. Fresh strawberries have a sweet and juicy taste.

Storage advice strawberries

In the store
Strawberries must be stored in a cool place, between a minimum of 1°C and a maximum of 4°C.

At home
We advise consumers to keep strawberries in the fridge.
Our tip: place the strawberries scattered on a plate or dish, to prevent the strawberries from bruising.

Usage tips strawberries

Strawberries must be carefully washed and patted dry. Remove the crown after washing, or the strawberries will taste watery. Strawberries are tasty snacks and can also be used in all kinds of dishes.

Extra tip for the consumer
Strawberries are high in vitamin C, folic acid and fibre and low in calories. The ideal healthy snack!

Ripeness / Freshness strawberries

Ripe and fresh strawberries have a glossy red colour and look cool and dry. Strawberries are sensitive fruits, so handle them carefully.
