The carambola is a star-shaped fruit with a light yellow skin and translucent flesh that can contain a few (edible) black seeds. Its tarty sweetness makes it especially thirst-quenching.

Storage advice Carambola


In the store
Before selling, carambolas should be stored under cool, dry conditions at 9 - 10 degrees Celsius and a relative humidity (RH) of 85 - 90%.

At home
We advise consumers to store carambolas at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Do not store below 5 degrees Celsius.



Usage tips Carambola


When ripe, the fruit is juicy and has a refreshing sweet-tart to sweet flavour. The carambola can be used in many dishes and is also delicious simply eaten out of hand. The remarkable shape of carambolas when sliced also makes them a favourite garnish.

Extra tip for the consumer
Carambolas are thirst quenching and contain less than 40 calories.
