As the name says, the drinking coconut is used for drinking from. There is very little coconut flesh in the young coconut but it contains a lot of coconut water.
Coconut water is not the same as coconut milk. Coconut milk is made from the flesh of the (hairy) coconut. Coconut water is the liquid from inside the coconut.

Before selling, drink coconuts must be stored in a cool, dry place at 0 to 2°C and at a relative humidity (RH) of 80 to 85%.
We recommend that consumers store drink coconuts in the refrigerator at between 2 and 7°C.
The skin of the coconut is very tough. Drill a hole through the top and drink the coconut water through a straw. Or cut off the pointed top with a large, sharp kitchen knife. There are special coconut drills available that make them even easier to open.
Extra tip for the consumer
You can use coconut water as a natural sports drink as it replenishes the vitamins and minerals lost through extreme physical effort.
By shaking the drinking coconut you can find out whether it still contains coconut water. This is because during the ripening process the coconut water eventually disappears.
