The kumquat is a small, bright orange-coloured citrus fruit. Kumquats are approximately 4 centimetres in diameter. Both the skin and the flesh are edible, and have a tart flavour. The skin is slightly sweeter, while the flesh is a little more sour. Kumquats are incredibly healthy and contain a lot of vitamin C and potassium.

Before selling, kumquats must be stored in a cool, dry place at 2 to 4°C and at a relative humidity (RH) of 90 to 95%.
We advise consumers to store kumquats at room temperature, in a fruit bowl, for example.
Kumquats don’t need to be peeled and can be eaten as is. However, do rinse them off before eating. Tip: Kumquats are delicious in a salad!

If the kumquat has a bit of green colored skin, then it will ripen naturally at room temperature. The fruit is ripe once the skin is bright orangey-yellow.
