They have the texture and bite of an apple, but the sweetness and taste of a pear. The pear is white on the inside and has a small core. Additionally, the pear has a thin gold-coloured skin.

Nevertheless, the pear can be found in many private gardens. The Nashi pear does need some warmth to fully ripen here in the Dutch climate. Now, biologically cultivated Nashi pears are also available in the Netherlands.
