Papaya Golden

The papaya is a tropical fruit that can be found in South America, Asia, and Central and South Africa. The fruit grows directly on the tree’s trunk. The trees bear fruit year-round. A ripe papaya has orange flesh and seeds which are not consumed. The flesh has a subtle, melon-like flavour.

Papaya Golden is a smaller variety papaya, with a thin skin and sweet orange flesh.

Our Papayas go under our brand Discovered.

Storage advice Papaya Golden

In the store

Before selling, preferably store the papayas in a cool, dry place at 10 to 13 degrees Celsius.

At home

Within the home, we recommend storing the papaya in a dark place outside the refrigerator.

Usage tips Papaya Golden

Slice the papaya like a melon; cut the fruit in half length-wise and remove the black seeds. Cut the papaya into slices and remove the skin. The flesh is delicious as is, but is also very tasty in a fruit salad.

Extra fact for the consumer
Papaya contains a protein-degrading enzyme (cysteine protease) called papain, which makes the flesh softer. This is why papaya is often eaten with various meat dishes. The papain also makes the papaya easily digestible.

Maturity / Freshness Papaya Golden

A ripe papaya is yellow and should hold a slight imprint when you press on it with the palm of your hand.
