Rambutan

The rambutan is one of the most beloved fruits in Southeast Asia. The spiny red skin contains a glossy, edible slightly acidic but sweet tasting fruit. Rambutans are also called “hairy lychee” because the fruit is reminiscent of a lychee, but the skin is completely different. The rambutan has a juicy, sweet and sour taste.

The rambutan is one of the most beloved fruits in Southeast Asia, so it’s no surprise that it is one of our best sellers. Yex provides active promotional support for this wonderful product and we will be happy to help you with promotions and activities!

Our rambutans go under our brand Discovered.

Storage advice Rambutan

In the store

Before selling, rambutan must be stored in a cool, dry place at 2 to 6°C and at a relative humidity (RH) of 90 to 95%.

At home

We recommend that consumers store rambutans at room temperature. Rambutans will quickly lose their flavour when stored in the refrigerator.

Usage tips Rambutan

Slice around the outside of the rambutan, and then easily squeeze the fruit out. The flesh of the rambutan is a glossy white colour. The seed is not edible. The fruit is not only delicious when fresh, it is also incredibly tasty in fruit salads or in a dessert.

Maturity / Freshness Rambutan

The skin turns red when the rambutan is ripe. A discoloration on the skin of the rambutan is often caused by oxygen and light. The product can still be sold, unless it is dark brown and dried up.
